About Jules (me!)
From the organic origins of Bundaberg, it was always clear that I pursue my intrepid journey exploring creativity. After gaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts at USQ in 1993, majoring in Textiles & Ceramics, life led me in different directions as equally as locations. It would be these experiences which I would come to reflect on in my work in future years
The summonsing of my hibernating creative practises happened in 2019 in the form of buon fresco. As an incredibly tactile form of painting, fresco has provided me with a surface in which I have the option to sculpt, texturise and apply colour in raw pigment applications. This has evolved to mixed media - to layer, to add textual story within the layers of plaster and imagery, yet also reduce what was, effectively extending the stories of a love of nature even further.
I have developed my signature fresco techniques, sharing my works as part of group exhibitions across the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Toowoomba, Bundaberg, Childers, Sydney and Melbourne.
